About
Chloe Elizabeth is a Sydney based designer and artist currently channeling her creativity and inspiration into ‘Firinn by Chloe Elizabeth’. The word Firinn is of Scottish Gaelic origins, meaning “The Ultimate Truth” which is something Chloe resonates strongly with and aspires to achieve in her daily life, art and designs.
Chloe is inspired by finding beauty in the curious cultures of people living in current and forgotten eras. Chloe takes a part ethnographic, part conceptual and part technological approach to producing work. Having studied B-Psychology, lived abroad and completed a B-Design and M-Design at UNSW COFA, her interests in the inextricable connections between people around the world and the human nature often inform her practical outcomes.
Chloe is passionate about researching historical records and the ways in which human beings over time have used body adornment to define themselves. Influenced by movements of particular cultures such as traditional body markings and production techniques, as well as decadent eras of the past and jewellery practices throughout history, Chloe’s works are then merged with modern technology to create unique mixed media collections. Her distinctive works are carefully researched and constructed using a variety of materials and techniques, allowing their meaning to translate into their aesthetic and the feelings they evoke. The pieces draw on the past and Chloe breathes life into them to bring them into a modern realm and most importantly, each piece tells its very own story.
